The score tells you the direction. The breakdown tells you the number: what allowance your answers imply, which of your employees would lose a subsidy, and the two compliance steps most employers in your position miss. One email, then it is yours.

Questions people ask before they run this
Neither is better in the abstract. The decision turns on five things: how hard your last renewal hit, whether you can clear a carrier's participation requirement, how spread out your employees are, the age range of your workforce, and how many of your people currently receive a Marketplace subsidy. An employer who cannot hit 70 percent participation has no group option to compare against. An employer whose staff all live in one metro with a young age curve often finds the group rate hard to beat.
Most carriers require a minimum share of eligible employees to enrol, commonly around 70 percent, before they will issue a small group policy. An ICHRA has no participation requirement and no minimum employer contribution, which is why employers who keep failing that threshold look at it first.
Under IRS rules an employee offered an ICHRA that is affordable to them is treated as having an affordable offer of employer coverage, and is therefore not eligible for the premium tax credit, whether or not they accept the ICHRA. If the ICHRA is unaffordable under the 9.96 percent test for 2026, the employee may decline it and keep subsidy eligibility. This is the single largest variable for employees in the calculation, and it is what the affordability calculator exists to settle.
It changes the size of the allowance an employer needs to offer, not the structure. KFF reports that the average net monthly Marketplace premium rose from 113 dollars in 2025 to 178 dollars in 2026 after the enhancements lapsed, and that the share of enrollees receiving any credit fell from 92 percent to 87 percent. An allowance that looked generous against 2025 net premiums may not look that way against 2026 ones.
The score is worked out in your browser and nothing leaves the page unless you ask for the breakdown by email. If you do, your answers travel with it so the breakdown can be about your situation rather than a generic one. Enrollment in an individual policy is handled by licensed agents, and we are paid when that business is placed.
Bring your numbers from this page. The call is to work out whether an ICHRA fits your headcount, not to put you on a plan.
InsureICHRA designs and runs the arrangement. Enrolling an employee in an individual health plan is handled by licensed agents, and InsureICHRA is not an insurance agency, an insurance carrier or a licensed producer. Calls to this number reach a licensed agent. Nothing on this page is an offer of coverage or a recommendation of any plan or carrier. Plan availability, benefits and premiums vary by state, by carrier and by the employee's rating area. We are paid when an employer we advise puts an ICHRA in place and their people enroll through our licensed agent partners.
